It is an open type of footwear that are only composed of sole and a strap. Compared with shoes, sandals are very good when it comes to outdoor activities like walking, biking and fishing.
With simple definition of sandals, many people are still confused of what sandals are specially when it is being compared with other open footwear like slippers and flip flops and in the end they have their own naming convention of the footwear. Flip flops - a plain looking footwear that are made of rubber. It is usually used in rainy seasons or going to the beach without worrying of getting soaked with water.

There are many types of sandals that are available in the market and each type has its own purposes.
Dress sandals - are purely made of leather else almost compared to leather. It can easily distinguished amongst any other types of sandals because of its heels. This type of sandals is not commonly advisable for rainy season.
Walking sandals - a rubber sole with straps surrounding the ankle of your feet. A perfect sandals that are design specifically for biking and walking long distances.
Beach sandals - are like fancy looking flip flops. These days beach sandals are modeled after shoes that are made of with rubber material.
Water sport sandals - imagine a walking sandals that are made of rubber with moderate hardness. Features are almost the same but the sole of water sports sandals has a good grip when it comes to wet places.
Weekend sandals - are sometimes combination of flip flops and dress sandals. Over design of weekend sandals are those sandals that covers most of the part of the front feet.
